In many countries, year-end celebrations are coming, and, again this year, more than one million children in Canada and across the planet will write to Santa Claus. In Canada, most children write to Santa Claus in English, French or one of the twenty five other languages spoken by Santa Claus and his elves.
Since 2002, Esperanto is among the languages used by Santa Claus. The Quebec Esperanto Society invites esperanto-speaking children to discover this Christmas tradition by writting a handwritten letter to the following address (please indicate clearly the word ESPERANTO in your letter) :

The Quebec Esperanto Society took part in the Quebec Social Forum, from the 23rd to the 26th of August 2007. The Social Forum was a success with more than 5000 participants from all province and elsewhere, and esperanto supporters had the opportunity to have their voice heard, among other things with the workshop "What language(s) for the alternative glozalization movement?", as well as with an information table on the 24th and 25th of august, in collaboration with the group Esperanto-UQAM. The Quebec Esperanto Society was also part of the festive demonstration in the streets of Montreal on Sunday the 26th, and then distributed hundreds of flyers. The group Esperanto-UQAM set up a website, to stimulate discussion surrounding democracy and fairness in international communication, including within the alternative glozalization movement.

The main location for the Festival will be in the Georges-O'reilly Park, in the boroughs of LaSalle and Verdun. For more information about the event (in French only) please visit the website : http://www.festivaldelaterre.ca.
One can listen to the hymn of the festival in Esperanto on the international website of the Earth Festival : http://www.festivaldelaterre.org.
